Salt Spring video

Here is a nice video about what Salt Spring Island has to offer!

Come and explore while staying Between The Covers… and between the lavender.

Guestbook Comments

This is what our guests wrote in our guestbook this morning before they left: “Superb, excellent, outstanding – how many adjectives can I use to describe our experience here?!”
And the other couple wrote: “There is no way that any B&B could be better than Between The Covers!”
Yeah!

Check out this video of a huge pod of orcas near us yesterday!

Wonderful video

Cowichan is just across the water from us. What you see in this wonderful video is very similar to what our island has to offer.

Enjoy!

Wildlife Zodiak Tour – the ultimate!

Happy people!

Cormorants near Chocolate BeachI knew I live in paradise, but even I didn’t realize how much breathtaking beauty is right at our doorstep!

Yesterday we went on a Wildlife Safari Tour with Ian from Gulf Islands Safari: http://www.gulfislandssafari.com/

Within minutes we were watching cormorants and eagles. Later on we observed oystercatchers, with their long red beaks and a juvenile eagle learning to hunt. Bald Eagle

Seals on Bell Chain

Juvenile Bald Eagle

Ian took us out to the Bell Chain, long narrow rocks full of humongous sea lions, and suntanning seals. Listening to their barks, with white Mt Baker shimmering in the back ground left us all is awe. If you visit Salt Spring, taking a whale watching or wildlife tour with Ian in his zodiak, is one of the best experiences you can hope for. Ian is very knowledgable and knows these waters like the back of his hand. He might even take you to a pub on Saturna!

Salt Spring’s Saturday Market

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  The famous Saturday Market is once again being held every week now until October. Local farmers and artisans offer everything from pottery, wood work, silk and weavings to locally grown lettuce, homemade breads and much more.

You can have lunch at the market, sit in the park and listen to music of buskers. Lick a locally made gelato from Harlan’s across the street, or nibble on warm bannock and sugar!

Getting Here

P7180006Did you know that three different ferry routes service Salt Spring Island? From the mainland you can either take the “direct” ferry (stops at some other islands but you don’t need to get off) to Long Harbour. Or you can come via Swartz Bay (north of Victoria) and transfer on the same ticket to Fulford Harbour. You can also come from Vancouver Island to Vesuvius. Check out: www.bcferries.com
It’s nice to have a car for any sighseeing on the island, but if you come without a car the bus waits for each ferry (except late at night) and will drop you off at the top of our road.

Ganges’ History

Planning a visit to Salt Spring?

Watch this video for a little lesson in history about the town of Ganges.

At Between The Covers you are at the edge of town, 2 KM from the centre and 1 KM from the supermarket. See how much the town has changed in a relatively short amount of time!
